Eusebius -- The Church History

Price per Unit (piece): US$26.99

Well styled, "The Father of Church History," Eusebius, Bishop of Caesarea in Palestine, was the first to write a history of Christianity during its crucial first three centuries from Christ to Constantine. Dr. Paul Maier has now provided a fresh translation of this important work from Eusebius' Greek, added a helpful commentary, and included over 150 photographs of the sites mentioned by Eusebius, as well as charts, maps and indexes. Published by Kregel, Inc., which brought out Maier's previous book in this series, Josephus - The Essential Works, Eusebius - The Church History answers such questions as:

- Whatever happened to the apostle in later life?

- Did Peter ever get to Rome?

- What happened to St. Paul after the Book of Acts ends with Chapter 28?

- Why were the Christians tormented so horribly in the Roman persecutions?

- What internal problems and heresies did the church face?

Like his book on Josephus, Maier's Eusebius is over 400 pages and magnificently illustrated.

Testimonials

Anonymous XEE Testimonial
I believe XEE could serve as a really helpful tool for people seeking to share Jesus today.  We know that in North America we live in a mission field, and we know that we need to engage those around us with the gospel.  But in our culture, we often struggle with how to bring up the subject in the first place, and then how to actually make it intelligible for those who didn't grow up in the church.  I've personally wrestled with this and I hear people talk about this problem all the time.
So, there's two areas of difficulty that hold many people back: knowing how to introduce the subject and knowing how to explain things.  XEE deals carefully and clearly with both these areas.  For example, I was impressed by the effort made to clearly explain things like 'offending God' to people in our culture.  I was also impressed by the number of different stories and questions that can be used as entry points into sharing.  Having just one idea about how to bring up spiritual things is always good.  Having many different ideas is even better, and can lead to many opportunities.  And that's what the XEE material is great for.  The course does provides a full 'A to Z' overview of how to teach or share the basics of faith.  At the same time, it is also flexible enough to provide a few practical ideas as needed to get things rolling.  In my opinion, this might be the most valuable aspect of the course.  I really hope XEE will help people get over these hurdles and prod them to start talking about Jesus with the people they encounter.  And once this happens, who knows what will come next!
