The Gospel reading from this past
Sunday was Mark 10:2-16. I was
particularly struck by these words of Jesus, "Let the children come to me; do not hinder
them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God."
What a powerful reminder to us of our responsibility as God's people to reach out with the Gospel of Jesus
Christ to children. When we speak of the
Great Commission which our Lord gave us, we tend to think geographically. In other words, we are to take the Gospel to
places. The Great Commission also
applies generationally. We have a
responsibility to pass the Gospel on from one generation to
another.
The Jesus Video for Children is a wonderful addition to the Christian's evangelism "toolbox." The revision which has been made for use in the Lutheran Church and in other churches which hold similar views on the work of the Holy Spirit in conversion results in a great resource which will, in my opinion, be a great blessing to the churches which use it and to the children who will hear the message.
